Reflexology
(offered in Boonsboro)
What is Reflexology
Reflexology is known as "zone therapy" and is the application of pressure to areas on the feet or the hands. This is done using thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques.
What are the Benefits of Reflexology?
More than a foot massage, reflexology can help you with deep relaxation, pain management, easing anxiety, peaceful sleep, better digestion, headache relief, calm mind, improved mood, and balanced energy.
How does it work?
Reflexology is considered a "microsystem" which means the entire body is mapped in a smaller physical area and trigger points in that area are used to release tension and improve function. Imbalances in the body lead to illness and Reflexology aims to keep the body functioning at a high level through treatment and management of the major and minor structures of the feet.

What should someone expect during a reflexology session?
Experiences with reflexology sessions vary from a general feeling of relaxation to a sense of lightness or tingling in the body. Other reactions can include feeling muscles relax, feeling of warmth or energy moving.
Are there times when you should avoid reflexology?
If one has blood clots, inflammation of leg veins, foot ulcers, gout, fungal infections, or open wounds on hand or feet, they should avoid reflexology. If pregnant, you need to tell your reflexologist prior to your session as some pressure points in the hands and feet may induce contractions. (I personally will not work on anyone who is pregnant, unless they are overdue!)
