Aaron Exum, Licensed Massage TherapistAaron Exum , LMT
Licensed Massage Therapist

Aaron believes that good bodywork requires a mutually interactive relationship between the client and the therapist. He doesn't work ON his clients, but rather WITH them, helping to identify and alleviate sources of pain and discomfort in their bodies, and facilitating their intentions to live more relaxed and balanced lives.

Each massage is a unique event. Aaron works with his clients to tailor the techniques used in a given session to their particular needs. His work draws on a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, and an ever growing toolbox of techniques; including myofascial release (MFR), trigger point, cranio-sacral, deep tissue, and Swedish massage.

Aaron's work is often described as "slow and focused", and he intentionally avoids applying techniques in such a way that they feel rushed or forced.  Aaron believes that this provides results that last longer between sessions, allowing for faster progress towards his clients' goals.

Aaron graduated from Central Maryland School of Massage here in Frederick. When he's not giving massages he enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, meditation, and yoga. He lives in downtown Frederick with his partner Cait and their two cats

Aaron began practicing in July of 2013, and joined HHA in March 2015.

Amber first came to HHA in 2006 as a summer job, home from college. After undergrad, she worked for Verizon Wireless for four years. This is where she learned that the corporate business world was not for her and what she really wanted to do was make a difference in people’s lives. This is how she chose to study counseling in graduate school.

Since coming back to HHA she has progressed from front desk associate to Office Manager and loves being a part of the HHA family. She is passionate about helping others and loves that her job allows her to work closely with a wide range of people every day. Since coming back to HHA in the fall of 2012, Amber has become much more interested in the mind/body, clean eating, and learning how to live a healthier lifestyle. She enjoys cooking, relaxing with yoga, reading, and spending time with her family and friends, and her dog Roo.

After being a stay at home Mom for a year, she worked in the food and beverage industry for a little while, but really wanted to pursue a position that had more meaning. Holistic Health Associates seemed like the perfect place! She is thrilled to be a part of a team who, together, make people's days and lives better!
Outside of work Amanda likes to cook with her significant other, and bake delicious and creative desserts. However, most of her free time is spent with her son- drawing, dancing, singing, and reading stories!

Christine Lacagnina Front DeskChristine Lacagnina
Front Desk Associate

Chris has worn a number of different hats over the past few years. Since graduating Cum Laude from Hood College in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in journalism, she worked as a personal trainer during her gym rat phase. She soon realized that her true passion was sparked in the yoga classes she had been taking and that it was health, wellness, and a mindful connection to the body that she truly craved and loved, rather than fitness. She became an RYT 200 certified yoga instructor in January of 2015 and currently teaches for Core Yoga and Sol Yoga.

Her interest in natural healing and the Eastern approach to treatment led to her interest in working at HHA, which she had fallen in love with the year before when she came here for her own treatment! The passionate and warm environment resonated with Chris, and she knew in her heart that she would fit right in.
She has a deep interest in Chinese medicine and sings the praises of acupuncture for its amazing potential to restore wellness to body, mind and spirit. She is also a huge fan of massage therapy in addition to yoga and favors any activity that allows one to become more in touch with themselves.

Christine joined the HHA team in December of 2015.

Chico DienerChico Diener, Therapy Dog
Jan 2001-Jan 2016

Chico was born in Santa Fe, NM in early 2001. As my first pet, we set out on a journey of learning from each other. Things like how to deal with porcupine quills, skunk spray and bear encounters, just to name a few. We moved to a cottage in the middle of the Sangre de Cristo mountains where we spent 3 years hiking and exploring.
At 3.5 we moved back to Maryland where he became a therapy dog and at 4 he began his working career as the therapy dog of HHA. For the last 10.5 years he has come to the office almost every day, bringing happiness and tranquility to all who cross his path.
He has been my partner for 2 cross country trips, 30+ trips to NYC and over 15,000 acupuncture treatments. He’s been my running partner, walking partner and spent 100’s of hours with me during meditation. He’s slept with me in a tent, under a massage table, in a car and at the foot of my bed.  He was the ring bearer at our wedding. Many of our patients have enjoyed his presence and easy going nature, often greeting him before their practitioner ;)
He exemplified love, loyalty, service, flexibility and calm and will be deeply missed as a member of our family. We hope his spirit is running through the mountains again and looking over all of us at HHA. RIP old friend.
