Discover the Ancient martial arts movement that helps you destress, relax & improve your circulation, flexibility and balance. Tai Chi is just one of the many ways Holistic Health Associates helps you to feel like the best version of yourself again. While Tai Chi was original developed for self- defense as it is a Kung Fu precursor, it has evolved into a more relaxing form of exercise with its slow fluid movements that help with balance and core strengthening, as well as promote health, happiness and longevity.

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is an ancient martial art that is based on mindfulness with the main objective being increased balance and relaxation. Due to the slow and gentle movements, Tai Chi is self-paced and can be adjusted to any age group, level of health or fitness, and any level of mobility. Even people who have or are currently suffering from pain, stroke or paralysis are able to reap the benefits of Tai Chi. The steady movement helps to circulate the energy (also known as qi) to promote optimum health.

Mindfulness is a key component. Each move is deliberate and flows from the mind using focused concentration and coordinating the mind and the body. It is the ultimate form of mind, body and spirit training.

Why Should You Try Tai Chi?

While it is possible to locate Tai Chi videos online or purchase books, for the full benefits of this modality, we recommend the guidance of a trained instructor. Frank Neely, also one of our acupuncturists here at Holistic Health has been studying & teaching Tai Chi for more than 20 years. Frank has studied martial arts since childhood, and currently teaches Tai Chi, KungFu, Qigong and Meditation. In his studies in China, Frank was one of the few westerners to be accepted into the ancient lineage of LaoTzu, which includes many of the greatest masters of acupuncture, herbalism and martial arts spanning more than 1,000 years. To say you would be learning from one of the best in the state of MD is an understatement.
